Many people think that the only purpose of eye examinations is to assess their vision, and whether their prescription has changed at all since their last appointment. Whilst this is undoubtedly an important part of the session, our experienced optometrists are also able to assess the health of your eyes to make sure there are no early signs of any potential issues. We can sometimes detect the earliest stages of conditions like heart disease and diabetes well before you’re even aware of any symptoms.
You can rest assured that our optometrists will explain all their findings to you at the end of your appointment, including any options you have for eyewear or further treatment if necessary.
There are several conditions that can affect your eye health and vision, and some can cause serious and permanent damage if they are not detected and treated quickly. That’s why it’s essential that you visit an optometrist immediately if your vision starts to get worse, or you have an eye-related emergency.
We are accredited with the Wales Eye Care Service which enables us to offer you an Eye Health Examination in this situation. This is different to a normal eye exam; it’s longer, more in-depth and allows us to establish if there are any problems with the health of your eyes. What’s more, if your situation means that you are in need of an Eye Health Examination, it won’t cost you a penny – everything is funded by the Wales Eye Care Service.
An Eye Health Exam is the first stage of the process in getting any eye condition or problem assessed and treated. It allows your situation to be diagnosed by dedicated eye care professionals – in many cases this could save your sight. Depending on the treatment you need, we will be able to refer you on to the right people to provide further help if necessary.
